Ms. Deborah Gildea Head of Novartis Social Business, Asia at Novartis

Deborah Gildea joined Novartis Social Business in 2017. In her role, she oversees the commercial operations and expansion of Novartis Social Business in the APAC region. The Asia-based programs will reach almost 10 million people across the region in 2019.

Over the past 2 years she expanded Novartis Social Business into 6 new countries across Asia increasing both the number of patients reached and the commercial operations which support its social activities by more than 30%.

Deborah started her career in sales and marketing roles in a number of consumer-facing businesses, before joining the Nutritional Healthcare division of GlaxoSmith Kline (GSK) in 2003. Deborah held a number of leadership roles in GSK across key divisions.

She was also one of a small team invited to developed GSK’s access to medicines strategy in 2010. She moved to Asia in 2011 to lead the impementation across Emerging Markets.

Deborah relocated to Phnom Penh in 2013 to set up GSK Cambodia as part of GSK’s Africa Developing Countries Unit before returning to Singapore in 2016 as General Manager, Developing Countries Asia.

Deborah graduated with a MA. in physics from Oxford University and with a Sloan Masters in Business (Distinction) from London Business School.
